What's required initially is completion of a fairly long and detailed application form which we will take care of for you, of course having had an initial briefing session with you. They also require a CV, so we'll produce a bespoke CV specifically tailored to the Lords. Once you're happy with those two documents, you would send them into the House of Lords Appointments Commission. They're the people who handle applications to become an independent crossbench peer, not affiliated to any particular party. Hopefully, then you'll hear back from them within a couple of months with good news, they'll be inviting you for an interview.
