Preparing to enter the King’s Award for Enterprise 2025

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the world, so you would expect a demanding application process. That is certainly the case, with a large number of questions to answer about all aspects of your business, from its history through to corporate social responsibility activities.

Submissions have a word count limit of up to 10,000 words, to give you a flavour of just how much work and information goes into them.

Our deadline for accepting new clients wanting to apply for the King’s Award for Enterprise is the 23rd August. So we wanted to share a few pointers on how to best prepare yourself and your business if you would like to begin the process with us.

  • Familiarise yourself with the application forms. This way, you have a good understanding of the type of questions and information the panels will be looking for before you begin work with you consultant.
  • Remember that the judges will want a view of the business as a whole, so expect your consultant to look to speak to various members of the senior leadership team to garner the necessary information.
  • There are also a lot of financial questions, going back up to six years. So it is as well to start preparing this as early as possible.  Key stats the assessors require are turnover, net profits, assets and exports (if relevant). But there are further questions that drill down into the detail.
  • Also, it is worth bearing in mind that at the shortlisting stage, you will be required to get your accountant/auditor to sign off the figures so it is always a good idea to give them an early heads-up.
  • The assessors like to see strong, consistent growth over the financial years of the entry. The occasional dip is OK, but it needs to be explained and justified within reasonable terms.
  • The assessors are also seasoned experts in the business world, so they can see through PR hype or exaggeration. It is best to keep the story simple, strong and jargon-free.
  • Perhaps most importantly, remember that when it comes to working with our consultants, the quality of the submission is as good as the information that you give us. So be sure to dedicate the necessary time as a business, to the process, and maximise your chances of being awarded.
