Members of the House of Lords are often referred to as peers. House of Lords titles are simple and can be broken down into two categories:

• A male peer has the title of Lord
• A female peer is a Baroness

The wife of a Lord can use the title of Lady. Interestingly, the husband of a Baroness does not receive a title.
