New Year Honours List highlights 2015

Ms Vanita Parti, saw a gap in the beauty market back in 2004, fast-forward ten years and she now runs a thriving business and has the (not-so) small matter of an MBE to show for it!

Vanita founded the now hugely popular walk-in eyebrow shaping solution – Blink Bar. Here, women and men have their eyebrows shaped in a quick and stress-free manner.

Whilst discussing the success of Blink Bar Vanita said:

Whilst struggling to find a decent place to go without an appointment to have my brows groomed, I first had that light bulb moment 11 years ago and spotted the gap in the market for a quick walk-in, pain-free brow service. Coming from an Indian heritage, threading was the norm in my family and it was a skill that women have been practicing for centuries in the eastern world.

Quick, precise, clean and holding the ability to create seamless results, I knew that the time-starved modern woman would love the results and flexibility that my concept would offer.

Vanita mentions the ancient Indian techniques of ‘threading’, which has now become Blink’s trademark and has brought the technique into the 21st Century.

It wasn’t long before British Vogue was tipping Blink as the next big thing and today the bar can be found in leading stores including Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Topshop, John Lewis and SpaceNK.

Vanita’s incredible story should serve as a real inspiration to any young aspiring entrepreneurs, proving that the Queen’s honour system is delighted to honour individuals who have made a wide diversity of achievements.
