Samir Desai CBE – Co-founder and CEO of Funding Circle, the small business peer-to-peer lender. For services to financial services. Desai has overseen Funding Circle’s rapid growth to facilitate an estimated $1.8bn of loans to more than 15,000 global businesses to date. Simon Devonshire OBE (pictured above) – Co-founder of Wayra Europe and former entrepreneur-in-residence at the Department of Business Innovation & Skills. For services to enterprise, enterprise promotion and humanitarian issues. Simon has helped approximately 300 digital companies through business accelerator Wayra Europe. Simon’s outstanding humanitarian work with the charity One Water has also been recognised. Simon has been instrumental in the charity’s push for cleaner water in Africa with over £10m raised.
Robin Rowland OBE – Chief Executive of YO! Sushi. For services to the restaurant and hospitality industry. Robin joined YO! Sushi in 1999 as CEO. Four years later Robin lead a management buyout of the restaurant and has since overseen YO! Sushi’s succession from a single store to a high street stalwart, with more than 75 outlets across the UK.
Rekha Mehr MBE – Founder of Pistachio Rose. For services to entrepreneurship and enterprise. Rekha is an impressive name on the enterprise scene. In 2013 she was appointed as the first Startup entrepreneur-in-residence for the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills. She has been recognised with an MBE for managing her own start-up while acting as a voice for the start-up community around her.
