Past winners of this coveted award include cutting edge small and medium size businesses like Genius Energy and The Scottish Shutter Company; large companies such as Vodaphone, Turkiye IS Bank, Microsoft and Heathrow Airport; public sector organisations including Transport For London, Abu Dhabi Police, Essex County Council and Brunel University, and charities such as Swanswell and St.Vincent’s Housing Association.

Here’s what the judges had to say about a few past winners:

Commenting on BAE Systems, winner in the Outstanding Green Initiative category, the chairman of the judges said:

“Showing that it is serious about minimising its environmental impact, BAE Systems took the decision to move beyond basic compliance and take its pledge one step further with an Environmental Sustainability Maturity Matrix. The matrix is an impressive, comprehensive tool that has embedded the practice of environmental sustainability into the organisation. It is a far-reaching initiative that is already achieving excellent results with big energy and water savings. BAE Systems has successfully changed the behaviour of all its staff and encouraged them to make changes at home as well.”

Commenting on DHL Express UK, winner in the Outstanding Employer category, the chairman of the judges said:

“Realising that the people are the company and that a happy staff are more productive, DHL Express UK embarked on an imaginative staff engagement campaign that has improved every aspect of the business in only a year. Through the implementation of a number of initiatives such as ‘know it all’ staff quizzes, annual tours by the board, listening to its couriers, improving staff benefits and streamlining recruitment, DHL has held on to its 50% market share and delivered much higher growth levels, more engaged and loyal staff, and, most importantly a 20% leap in turnover.”

Commenting on SAP India Pvt. Ltd, winner in the Outstanding Marketing Campaign category, the chairman of the judges said:

“SAP India Pvt. Ltd launched a major campaign to promote the company’s innovative enterprise software. It combined a variety of on and offline media centred around an 11-city coach roadshow, The Innovation Express. The outcomes were fantastic with the marketing campaign reaching more than 4.5 million, plus big increases in Twitter followers and YouTube hits. SAP India Pvt. are worthy winners for showing that it is possible to combine the latest technology with more traditional ‘meet the customer’ marketing to raise awareness and promote your company.”

The entry deadline is 29 February so please take action immediately to avoid missing the boat. Winners announced mid-April.
